'Golden Peony' is a high-aroma new variety (number 305) bred by the Fujian Provincial Tea Research Institute through the crossbreeding of Tieguanyin and Huang Dan. It is planted at an altitude of 800-1,000 meters in gravelly loam soil in Xingcun Town, Wuyi Mountains. The spring temperature difference between day and night can reach 10-12°C, promoting significant accumulation of floral aroma substances such as linalool and geraniol (linalool measured at 1.38 mg/g by GC-MS). Premium raw materials are hand-picked as one bud with one leaf. With 22.1% tea polyphenols, 4.0% amino acids, and a polyphenol-to-amino acid ratio of 5.5, it establishes the taste foundation of 'mellow and non-astringent, sweet, smooth, thick, and glutinous'. Light withering and light rolling, followed by 90 minutes of fermentation at 28°C then gentle full drying, achieving a moisture content of ≤4.3%, completely preserving the unique orchid aroma, ripe fruit honey aroma, and subtle cinnamon spiciness of this cultivar. The tea liquor is bright orange-red with 1.15% theaflavins and 10.4% thearubigins (GB/T 30483), forming a wide golden rim; caffeine content is 28 mg/200 ml, offering a gentle stimulating effect; water extractives reach 47%, maintaining flavor through 9-10 infusions.
